What does the landlord register cost? £65 a home, every year
England's new landlord register charges £65 a home, every year, and the landlord pays it. Register before 15 November 2027 and the first fee is smaller: it leaves out the days before that date.
The fee
The government says the fee is £65 a year for each home, and you renew the registration every year. It is per home, not per landlord: three homes cost £195 a year.

Who pays, and when
If you're the landlord of an assured or regulated tenancy, you register yourself and each home, and pay for each. For now that means homes that are let, or become let while the service rolls out. The deadline goes by where the home is: once its region's duty starts, you have three months.
| Region | Duty starts | Deadline to register |
|---|---|---|
| West Midlands | 15 December 2026 | 14 March 2027 |
| East of England | 15 January 2027 | 14 April 2027 |
| East Midlands | 15 February 2027 | 14 May 2027 |
| South East | 15 March 2027 | 14 June 2027 |
| Yorkshire and Humber | 15 April 2027 | 14 July 2027 |
| North West | 15 May 2027 | 14 August 2027 |
| North East | 15 June 2027 | 14 September 2027 |

What Datestone does for you
For a home that is let, its checklist on Datestone shows the registration with that home's own deadline, from its council's region; for an empty one, that it doesn't need registering yet. Each home on Datestone also holds its gas safety record, electrical report and EPC with their dates, beside its rent, the people living there and its bedrooms. Datestone doesn't register you: you do that on the government's service.
